Known Issues and Limitations
While I have made every effort to ensure that Plot2EMF is
comparable to what you would get from your plotter, there are a
few things that you should be aware of.
Rendering Engine
- Plot2EMF ignores everything before an "IN;" (Initialise)
or "DF;" (Default Set) command is seen. This behavious can be
changed with the "Device Initialisation implied" setting in
the Options Dialog.
- The character set selection commands ('CS', 'CA', 'SS',
'SA') are not currently implemented.
- Using a type value of 1 or 2 for the SC; (Scale) command
is not currently supported.
- Using the PE; (Polyline Encoded) command with Base32
encoding has not been fully tested. Use at your own
risk.
- The LB; (Label) command doesn't work as one might expect
when using the Mirror X-axis (/MX) command. When text is
mirrored, it is printed upside-down, and a bit lower/higer
than expected.
- The UL (User-defined Line Type) and LA (Line Attributes)
commands are not currently supported.
- Some plot engines generate complex HP-GL/2 files with
long series of PE (encoded polygon) commands. In some cases,
there have been problems interpreting these correctly,
causing the plots to be skewed.
- With release 3.4.982 (18. June 2001), the IW (Input
Window) command is now interpreted using user units (SC
command) if defined.
Printing
- If the metafile is larger than the printer page size, it
will automatically be scaled down to 1 page.
Save As BMP
- A 16-color device-independent bitmap will be created, but
be warned - the bitmaps are usually HUGE!
- Do not use the high-resolution mapping mode option if you
want to create a.BMP file. If the high-resolution mode is
selected, the.BMP file will appear to be blank. I'm looking
into this, and hope to have a fix in a future release.
For users of earlier releases...
- The behaviour of the pen-width value has changed in
release 3.0.733. A value of zero defaults to a 0.3mm wide
pen. Any value above zero is a multiplcation factor of 0.3mm.
A value below zero indicates a pixel width. So, if you want
the 'original' behaviour of 1-pixel wide pens, use the value
-1.
